The UNLV women’s cross country team headed north earlier this week for the 2024 NCAA DI Women’s Cross Country West Regional, traveling out to the Colfax Golf Club in Colfax, Wash., hosted by Washington State.
The Rebels qualify for the regional championships for the second season in a row under head coach Carmelita Jeter and distance coach Adam Meyer, the squad recently coming off the Mountain West Cross Country Championships just two weeks ago. Freshman Claire Rands led the Scarlet & Gray lineup during the conference championships, crossing the finish line on a 24:24.2 final time during the 6k race.
UNLV will be bringing five student-athletes from the roster to the meet, consisting of one junior, one sophomore and three freshman. The freshman trio include Rands, Sophia Legat and Breanna Blanks, with Alana Sangprasit and Abigail Danlag join the crew. Danlag has appeared in the Scarlet & Gray uniform for the NCAA Regional championships prior to this weekend, competing with the team during the 2023 NCAA DI Regionals in Sacramento, Calif.
