Firefighters vs. police will compete to raise funds and see who can eat the most waffles at the tiabi coffee and waffle annual waffle eating contest!
The local coffee shop is celebrating international waffle day with a fun waffle eating contest and community squat challenge to raise funds for two local charities supporting first responders!
Grab a fork! International Waffle Day is coming up, and TIABI Coffee and Waffle is hosting its annual waffle eating contest – Waffles for a Cause! The annual event combines two of their favorite things: waffles and community. The Clark County School District Police K-9 unit will go head-to-head against the Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation on Saturday, March 25, to see who can eat the most waffles in five minutes—leading up to the event the community can get in on the fun and Fun-raising by signing up for the squat challenge, a new addition to the event. Participants can sign up to compete to squat the most reps in five minutes while holding a twenty-five-pound bag of sugar; the winner will receive free waffles for the year. To sweeten the experience, TIABI Coffee and Waffle will also have a healthy first responder menu; items will promote wellness and be available throughout March, and a portion of proceeds from the specialty menu will be donated to both organizations.
Waffles and Syrup go hand and hand at TIABI Coffee and Waffles. The local coffee shop has been serving freshly made-to-order waffles and locally roasted coffee for over nine years. Their motto is “To Inspire And Be Inspired,” They have made it part of their company culture to serve and give back to the community. They participate each year in the Veganuary campaign, support the UNLV internship program, and partner with local charities throughout the year to raise funds and awareness within their two TIABI Coffee and Waffle locations.
“A holiday to celebrate eating waffles is worth celebrating! So this year, we want to continue our tradition of celebrating those on the front lines by giving back and keeping our other traditional Waffle Eating Contest.” – Tiffany Biscoe, owner of Tiabi Coffee and Waffle.
TIABI Coffee and Waffle decided to give the Waffle for a Cause event an additional twist with a competitive edge putting firefighters vs. police in a friendly competition to see who can eat the most waffles. Each organization will walk away a winner, as each Waffle eaten will be $5 towards their organization. As a request from the community to get more involved with the fundraising, the local shop owner, Tiffany Biscoe, and her team came up with the squat challenge and added a waffle ingredient to the mix – a twenty-five-pound bag of sugar; each participant will hold the bag while they squat, fitness professionals will be on-site keeping track and making sure they are squatting properly and safely.
TIABI Coffee and Waffle will fire up the waffle irons on March 25 to host the Waffle for a Cause International Waffle Day Eating Contest at 8 a.m. in front of the shop at 3961 S. Maryland Pkwy.
