Cinema Spotlight: Showgirls
This month, The Beverly Theater puts the cinema spotlight on the 1995 cult-classic film, Showgirls, directed by Paul Verhoeven. Unequivocally connected to Las Vegas, Showgirls is one of those films that, despite its initial reception, has found lasting fame and a special place in cinema history as an iconic underground hit. The Beverly Theater high-kicks off the screenings of Showgirls with an exclusive, invitation-only screening of the film for former and current showgirls and performers of all kinds on July 25 with additional public screenings on July 26 and 27.
LIT – Best-selling Author Amor Towles in Conversation with Laura McBride – July, 10
Las Vegas’ only indie film house, live music venue, and storytelling arena, The Beverly Theater and The Writers Block are teaming up to present best-selling author, Amor Towles in conversation with local novelist Laura McBride on Wednesday, July 10 at 6 p.m. Co-sponsored by the Beverly Rogers, Carol C. Harter Black Mountain Institute at UNLV, this is a book-with-ticket event. A ticket is required for entry which includes a pre-signed hardcover copy of Table for Two. Book-with-tickets are $32 and can be purchased here.
Amor Towles is the bestselling author of the novels Rules of Civility, A Gentleman in Moscow, and The Lincoln Highway, as well as a collection of shorter fiction called Table for Two. His works have collectively sold over six million copies and have been translated into over thirty languages. Bill Gates and President Obama included A Gentleman in Moscow and The Lincoln Highway on their annual book recommendation lists. Additional signed copies of Towles’ books can be purchased online or at the event, while supplies last.
Laura McBride lives in Las Vegas and teaches composition at the College of Southern Nevada. She is the author of the novels We Are Called to Rise and In the Midnight Room.
LIVE @ The Beverly Theater – Bennett Coast – Where Are You Going? Tour – July 23
At just 22, LA-based Bennett Coast is a multifaceted artist who writes, sings, produces his music, and directs his own videos. His debut EP, Where Are You Going? serves as a deeply personal, sun-soaked California indie-pop soundtrack. Songs like “Driver” and “Now I Know You” offer a nostalgic and tender exploration of identity. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased directly here. Doors open at 7 p.m. – all ages.
LIVE @ The Beverly Theater – The Palms – Wonderland 2024 Tour w/ Marlon Funaki – July 28
Since forming in Los Angeles in 2015, The Palms have carved out a niche in the indie music scene with their signature California sound and hits like “Push Off.” They have garnered hundreds of millions of streams while maintaining complete independence. The Beverly Theater is LIT – Cult Classic – The Room w/Greg Sestero in Person – Aug. 2 & 3
The Room w/Greg Sestero in Person – Cult Classic! Plot aside, The Room has become one of the most famous midnight movies ever, worthy of its place in a green screen trophy room of weirdness next to Rocky Horror, El Topo, and Pink Flamingos. With energetic acting, dialogue, and a seductive atmosphere – sorry – maddening, to the point of crying and laughing, the film has been a cult favorite for two decades now. So few movies have so many critics giving it a bad review while simultaneously saying you must come to see it. Both 9 p.m. screenings will feature a Q&A with the man who lived through it all, as written in his memoir The Disaster Artist. You will have questions – and Greg Sestero will be here to answer them!

Imagined by The Rogers Foundation, the 14,306 square-foot film house and concert theater features three distinct areas: the main theater, Segue (jazz terrace), and courtyard, each designed with purpose and intention. The Beverly Theater has an on-site box office, and retail/concession space.
