Las Vegas Raiders Collaboration: The Library District is thrilled to announce a new promotion with the Las Vegas Raiders, which includes a Raiders Library Card (available Jan. 2, 2025) and co-branded T-shirt prizes. Additionally, there will be two very special storytimes at Whitney Library (5175 E. Tropicana Ave.) on Jan. 8. featuring children’s author and Raiders SVP, Chief Sales Officer Qiava Martinez. Qiava will present her book “Sports Dream, a heartwarming children’s book about finding one’s strengths and using them to pursue your dreams. The storytimes will take place at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Raider Rusher will also be on hand for even more fun and photo opportunities at both events. Admission is FREE but seating is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.

Winter Reading Challenge: This annual event will take place Jan. 2-31, and participants who complete the challenge with five hours of reading will receive an age-appropriate prize when they turn in their reading log to their nearest branch. All completed bookmark logs will also be entered to win one of our Grand Prizes, which include Las Vegas Raiders branded items, library swag, gift cards and more while supplies last.

Here’s how it works:

·       Babies, kids, teens and adults are challenged to read (or be read to) for at least five hours (300 minutes) during the month of January 2025. Track your progress on TheLibraryDistrict.beanstack.org or on a printable bookmark log (available in English and Spanish). You can also pick up the bookmark log at any one of the  25 Las Vegas-Clark County Library District branches.

·       Everyone is a winner! Kids, teens, and adults who complete the challenge by Jan. 31, 2025, will receive an age-appropriate prize, while supplies last. Even babies can join in by being read to for five hours.

·       And qualify for a Grand Prize! Turn in your completed bookmark log to local branch and you will be automatically entered for a chance to win one of our exciting Grand Prizes.

“Winter Reading Challenge is another example of the Library District’s mission to promote literacy for Southern Nevadans of all ages,” said Kelvin Watson, executive director of the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District. “This program provides a fun, enjoyable way for families and individuals to cozy up with some great reading when it’s chilly outside, for the chance to win cool prizes. We are so grateful to the Las Vegas Raiders for generously supporting this program.”
