VISSER NAMED MW PLAYER OF THE WEEK
UNLV second baseman posting league-leading numbers
UNLV’s April Visser was voted the Mountain West Softball Player of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.
It was Visser’s first career player of the week honor.
UNLV’s second baseman scored or batted in a run in 12 of 15 plate appearances as UNLV won two of three games in last weekend’s series at Colorado State.
In Friday’s 13-12 extra-innings victory, Visser batted 3-for-4 at the plate, hitting three RBIs and scoring four runs. In Saturday’s 9-6 win, Visser hit 3-for-5 with a home run and three runs scored.
Visser leads all Mountain West players in hits, runs scored, RBIs and slugging percentage in conference games.
The Rebels return to Las Vegas this week to host a three-game series against Fresno State. Thursday’s series opener begins at 6 p.m. PT.
