UNLV’s WOLFE NAMED MW WOMEN’S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Senior scored golden goal in victory over Nevada, Reno

Thanks to her heroics in UNLV’s double-overtime win over in-state rival Nevada, Reno on Friday night, UNLV forward Jenn Wolfe was named the Mountain West Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday morning. This is her second weekly honor of the season, and the third overall for UNLV after Dakota Blazak was named last week.

Wolfe, a native of Olathe, Kan., made her Senior Night one to remember as with the game tied at 1-1 and the second overtime period nearly over, she blasted in a high shot from 35 yards with just 11 seconds left for the golden goal, giving the Rebels the 2-1 victory. That was also her 10th career game-winner, tying her for the school-record along with Katie Carney (2004-07). Wolfe added an assist in the game as well, on UNLV’s score in the 81st minute that had put the team up 1-0.

Wolfe, who was named first-team all-conference on Sunday, leads the Rebels this year with 19 points off six goals and seven assists, all of which rank in the top six in the conference.

The Rebels, 10-8-2 on the season, open play in the 2013 MW Tournament on Monday with a 3 pm (PT) contest against seventh-seeded Wyoming in a first round matchup, help at the UNM Soccer Complex in Albuquerque, N.M..
