UNLV Weekly Release

All About The Rebels
UNLV broke a conference losing streak with a much needed shutout victory on Oct. 13, a 1-0 shutout of Colorado State. That gave UNLV its second league win of the year and six points, putting them back in the race for one of the MW tournament slots. The Rebels will also be playing for their first win in San Diego since 2008, and first win in Albuquerque since 2007, though UNLV did claim a victory over the Lobos in Las Vegas last season by a 2-0 margin.
Leading the Rebels this year is senior forward Jenn Wolfe, with five goals and four assists for 14 points, third-best in the league. Sophomore midfielder Susie Bernal is second in the MW in assists, while senior goalkeeper Kylie Wassell continues her outstanding career in the goal, and has posted five shutouts this season.

Scouting San Diego State
The defending conference champions took their lumps in the non-conference slate against a tough schedule, winning just two of nine contests. It’s been turned around once the Aztecs hit league play though, as they won their first four MW games before suffering a 2-1 loss at Wyoming on Sunday.
Leading the team this year is Hannah Keane, the top scorer in the Mountain West at 21 points off nine goals and three assists. The next highest scorer with Carli Johnson, with three goals for six points. In the net for SDSU is Melanie Vaughn, who owns a 1.22 GAA this season with 47 saves and five shutouts.

Scouting New Mexico
The Lobos are another team that’s had success in league play after struggling in non-conference action, as they were 2-7-1 against non-MW foes. But like the Aztecs, New Mexico is 4-1 as well, and again its only loss is on the road at Wyoming.
The scoring has been a little more balanced for the Lobos, with Lindsey Guice and Dylann O’Connor both tied with eight points, while two more players have four points each. Though the team is only averaging a goal a game, they have made up the difference on the defensive side, allowing only 0.93 goals per contest, thanks to the play of goalkeeper Cassie Ulrich (0.90 GAA).

Next Time Out
The Rebels will play an afternoon contest at home against Air Force on Friday, Oct. 25 at 4:30 pm, part of a double-header with the men’s team. That will be followed by a trip to Laramie to take on Wyoming on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 12 pm (PT).
