UNLV WOMEN’S SOCCER ADDS BRITTNEY GIDEON TO 2013 SIGNING CLASS
Head coach Michael Coll’s first class is now at 12 players
UNLV women’s soccer head coach Michael Coll announced on Monday that Brittney Gideon has signed a national letter of intent to play for the Rebels, starting in the fall of 2013. Gideon becomes the 12th member of Coll’s initial recruiting class, after 11 players were announced in February.
Gideon, a 5-6 forward and native of Honolulu, Hawaii, was a two-year starter for Mililani High. She helped the Trojans to two top-four finishes in the state tournament and a combined 27-5-2 record over her two seasons. She earned all-state and First Team All-OIA West honors both years while leading Mililani is scoring as well.
She has been a member of two club teams, first with Hawaii Rush from 2004-11 and helped them to an appearance in the 2010 National Cup. Her past two years have been with the Honolulu Bulls, along with future teammate Lily Sender who signed with the Rebels in February, and the two helped the Bulls to second place in the State Cup in 2012 as well as a regional appearance.
UNLV, in its first year under Coll as head coach, posted a 12-4-4 record and reached the semifinals of the Mountain West tournament in 2012. Eight starters will be returning from that squad for the Rebels.
