BACK TO THE ROAD FOR UNLV WOMEN’S SOCCER THIS WEEKEND
Rebels to take on Sacramento State and Northern Arizona
The UNLV women’s soccer team is back on the road, the first of a six-game stretch away from Las Vegas, with games at Sacramento State and Northern Arizona this weekend. This will be only the third-ever meeting between the Rebels and the Sac State Hornets, and the seventh all-time with the Lumberjacks, though only the second since 2004. Last season the Rebels posted a 2-0 win in Michael Coll’s first game as head coach at UNLV.

All About The Rebels
The Rebels come in with the top scoring offense in the Mountain West, averaging 2.75 goals per game, thanks mostly to a trio of players. Senior forward Jenn Wolfe, sophomore midfielder Susie Bernal and junior midfielder Denali Murnan rank 1-2-4- in the Mountain West in total points this season, as of games played through Sept. 4.
Scouting Sacramento State
The Hornets are 1-2 on the season, having started out with a pair of losses at UC Davis and Cal Poly, before bouncing back to win at CSU Bakersfield by a 3-1 score, for their only three goals of the year. Friday’s game against UNLV will be their first home contest of the year.
Alyssa Anderson has two of the team’s three goals this season for four points, while Kimberly Mata has played all 270 minutes in goal, and has a 2.00 GAA.
Scouting Northern Arizona
NAU is tied for 10th this week in the NSCAA Pacific Region Poll, thanks to a 3-0-1 mark to start the season. That includes road wins at Long Beach State at CSU Bakersfield, both by a 1-0 margin, while the tie game at UC Riverside, a team UNLV defeated 3-2 in the season opener.
Four players are tied for the team lead with three points. In goal is Lauren Weaver with a 0.71 GAA, having allowed only three goals all season.
Next Time Out
It will be a second straight week on the road, with the Rebels off to the Northwest to face Washington State and Idaho. The Washington State contest will be on Friday, Sept. 13 at 2:30 pm in Pullman, and will be shown live on the Pac-12 Network, while UNLV faces Idaho in Moscow on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 12 pm (PT).
