UNLV WOMEN’S BASKETBALL HEAD COACH KATHY OLIVIER KICKS OFF CCSD COACHES CHALLENGE OCT. 20

Over 10,000 students in the district will participate in the program

UNLV Women’s Basketball head coach Kathy Olivier will help the Clark County School District kick off the 8th annual UNLV Coaches Challenge, with an event on Monday, Oct. 20 at 9 am at Elise Wolff Elementary School in Henderson.

The annual Coaches Challenge is a collaborative effort between the UNLV Athletic Department, Southern Nevada Health District and the Clark County School District. The Challenge encourages grade-school children to make healthy food choices and to participate in physical activity every day. Each year, the winning classrooms receive tickets to a UNLV basketball game and the grand prize winning classrooms receive a visit from a UNLV head coach to congratulate students for their efforts. This year, 10,042 students have signed up and represent 373 classrooms across the school district.

This will be the first year that Olivier and the Lady Rebels will take the lead in the program from the UNLV side. “We love doing community service but this is a special one for us,” said Olivier. “We get to go to the schools and mentor young elementary students on how to make smart choices and good decisions, and how important it is to exercise and eat right.”
