UNLV FACES FORMER MW FOE IN WNIT 1ST ROUND…

The UNLV Lady Rebels are in the postseason for the second straight year as they will open play in the 2018 Postseason WNIT Thursday night when they face former Mountain West conference rival Utah in Salt Lake City. This is UNLV’s fifth straight first round road game in the WNIT, and the Lady Rebels are also looking for their 20th win of the season, which would give them back-to-back 20 win seasons for the first time since 1992-93 and 1993-94.

The game will tip off at 6 pm (PT) in the Huntsman Center. Fans can purchase tickets through the Utah ticket office or at UtahTickets.com. Tickets are $6 (GA) or $10 (Reserved Floor) for adults, $3 (GA) or $10 (Reserved Floor) for youth (13-17) and seniors. Tickets for students and youth 12-and-under are free. Thursday’s contest will be live streamed on the Pac-12 Network, available online through links on both UtahUtes.com and UNLVRebels.com. There will also be a UNLV radio broadcast on NBC Sports 920 AM with the call of Wyatt Tomchek and Mark Wasik, which can also be accessed through UNLVRebels.com as well as the UNLV GameDay App.

UNLV and Utah were founding members of the Mountain West, and have met twice since the Utes left the league, with a home-and-home series in 2013-14 and 2014-15. Both games were won by Utah.

The Lady Rebels earned their spot in this year’s 64-team event thanks to claiming the Mountain West regular season championship, the first in school history for the team. That gave UNLV the league’s auto-bid to the WNIT, while Utah was an at-large bid after finishing 17-13 on the season, though 8-10 in the Pac-12. The Utes have lost their last three games, though the team has dealt with injuries to two of their top three scorers, their status for Thursday’s game is TBD.

The winner of Thursday’s contest will take on the winner of the first-round matchup between Saint Louis and Kansas State.
