UNLV WOMEN’S BASKETBALL FACES NEW LEAGUE MEMBER IN MONDAY’S MW FIRST ROUND

Lady Rebels won the only other meeting this year with San Jose State, UNLV is 17-0 all-time against the Spartans in Las Vegas

UNLV opens play in this week’s Reese’s Mountain West Women’s Basketball Championships with a matchup in Monday’s first round against the 10th-seeded San Jose State Spartans, starting at 4:30 pm in the Thomas & Mack Center. The winner advances to Tuesday’s quarterfinals to face second-seed Fresno State.

UNLV comes into the tournament with a good amount of momentum following an impressive 80-68 win over third place Nevada, Reno in the season finale this past Friday night. That was an important win for UNLV to show that its troubles from February are in the past, after winning just once out of eight games in the month. March has been a better start so far for the Lady Rebels, with a 44-point win over Air Force and the win over their in-state rivals in the Wolf Pack. Those victories surrounded a road game at San Diego State, a one-point loss in the final seconds.

There will be a live webcast of the game featured on the Mountain West Network at UNLVRebels.com, while the UNLV radio broadcast, featuring the call from Adam Candee, Jesse Vineyard and Dominique Harris is available on KSHP 1400 AM and also off a link at UNLVRebels.com.
