WADE, TOIA SIGN WITH UNLV WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Lady Rebels sign first two members of the 2016-17 recruiting class
The UNLV women’s basketball team has signed a pair of 6-2 forwards to national letters of intent to play for the Lady Rebels starting in the fall of 2016-17, Head Coach Kathy Olivier announced on Monday. Joining the UNLV squad will be Rodjanae Wade and Kimauri Toia.
Wade is native of Fresno, Calif., and played for Edison High where she averaged 17.6 points per game as a junior. She also plays for the Fresno Heat club team. “Rodjanae is extremely athletic, quick and long,” said Olivier. “We really needed a recruit of her athleticism and I expect she’s going to help us right away. She is very fast on the court, flies up and down, while her length will also help her make an impact defensively.”
Toia, a native of Taylorsville, Utah, played both basketball and volleyball for Hunter High. As a junior she earned 5-A all-state third team honors, and played her club ball for both the Salt Lake Rebels and Team Arizona. “We’re so excited to have Kimauri coming to UNLV,” said Olivier. “She’s super strong, aggressive and a great rebounder. Her strength is going to take her a long way as a Lady Rebel. She’s a very talented lady and very driven.”
UNLV, 1-0 on the season, is back in action on Tuesday when it hosts Pepperdine at 7 pm in the Cox Pavlion.
