UNLV volleyball’s Chloe Thomas was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week, the league announced Monday. It marks the third such honor for her this season.

It also is the fifth individual weekly award for the Rebels this season as Mariena Hayden was named the league’s Offensive Player of the Week last week and Paris Oliveira was the Defensive Player of the Week honoree on September 20.

Thomas, a middle blocker from Allen, Texas, helped the Rebels to a 2-0 mark last week with two sweeps: at San Diego State and at home vs. Fresno State. Those wins kept UNLV atop the MW standings.

Thomas led the team in hitting percentage over those two games at .421, tallying nine kills with only one hitting error. She also added five block assists.

Against the Aztecs, she hit .273 with four kills, also contributing three blocks and two digs, and against the Bulldogs, she hit a match-high .625 with five kills and no errors, also recording two blocks.

UNLV has now won five straight matches and 12 of its last 13 overall.

NEXT FOR THE REBELS: UNLV will be on the road this week at Utah State on Thursday, October 14 and at Boise State on Saturday, October 16.
