SEVERAL 2012 OLYMPIANS, INCLUDING MISSY FRANKLIN, HIGHLIGHT FIELD AT UNLV FALL INVITATIONAL
Four top-25 teams, including No. 25 UNLV men and No. 1 Cal women, are among the 11-team field
The UNLV men’s and women’s swimming and diving program will host one of its biggest home meets in recent history this weekend, as 11 teams including four top-25 squads are coming to the UNLV Fall Invitational, held Thursday-Saturday in Buchanan Natatorium on the UNLV campus. The field includes the No. 1 ranked California women, who bring in a pair of gold medal winners from the 2012 Olympics including Missy Franklin. Action starts each morning with the preliminaries at 9 am each day, while finals begin at 5 pm on Thursday and Friday, and 4 pm on Saturday. Admission is $5 per session, or $20 for an all-session pass (six total sessions). Children 12 and under are free.
The total field has 10 teams on the women’s side, as joining Cal and the host Rebels are No. 17 UCLA, Arizona State, BYU, Colorado State, Northern Arizona, Oregon State, UC Santa Barbara, and Wyoming. The men’s meet features seven squads, led by No. 5 Stanford and No. 25 UNLV, along with Arizona State, BYU, Northern Arizona, UCSB and Wyoming.
