UNLV SWIMMING AND DIVING FALLS IN SEASON OPENER AT ARIZONA
The UNLV men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams dropped their season opener on Friday afternoon at Arizona, with the Rebel men falling by a 208-91 score to the 23rd ranked Wildcats, and the UNLV women suffering a 183-109 loss.
On the men’s side, UNLV did post a total of four first-place swims on the afternoon. Matt Roe won the first individual race of the day, touching first in the 1000 free in 9:24.44. Balint Batka claimed the 200 fly in 1:48.76, while Dillon Virva posted a winning time of 20.26 in the 50 free. The final win for the UNLV men was in the 200 IM, with Giacomo Gremizzi placing first in 1:50.18.
Two Rebel women each won one event against Arizona. Jessica Heim placed first in the 500 free, posting a time of 5:02.99. The other win came from Katelyne Herrington in the 100 fly, thanks to a first-place time of 54.95.
UNLV stays in the state of Arizona for its next competition, on Saturday at Arizona State in Tempe starting at 12 pm.
