THREE REBELS NAMED ALL-REGION
Bressler, Morales and Visser selected to NFCA All-West Region Team
The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced that three Rebels were named to the NFCA Division I All-Region Softball Teams.
Jenny Bressler, Sofia Morales and April Visser were voted to the NFCA All-West Region team that includes players from universities in Arizona, California and Nevada.
The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association’s 10 regions with first, second and third-team selections. NFCA member head coaches from each respective region nominated student-athletes and voted for the teams. All awarded student-athletes now become eligible for the 2022 NFCA Division I All-America squads.
Bressler tossed 26 victories, the sixth-highest total in Division I, with nine complete-game shutouts and 208 strikeouts. Her five saves matched UNLV’s single-season record and ranks eighth nationally.
It’s the senior pitcher’s second all-region selection after being selected All-West Region First Team as a freshman in 2019.
Morales is UNLV’s first freshman position player selected to an all-region team since three-time All-American Kim Rondina was honored in 1994. The outfielder topped the league with a .407 batting average this season.
Visser ranked 27th in the NCAA in on-base percentage (.510). The senior transfer led the Mountain West Conference in runs scored and the Rebels in home runs and slugging percentage in her first year with the team.
The 2022 NFCA Division I All-America teams, voted on by the NFCA DI All-American Committee, will be announced on Wednesday, June 1.
The Rebels head into postseason play at the National Invitational Softball Championship this weekend in Fort Collins, Colo. UNLV earned a first-round bye as the No. 3 overall seed and will play the winner of North Alabama versus Tarleton State Saturday at 3 p.m. PT.
