UNLV men’s soccer will finish off the regular season Saturday night with its toughest challenge yet, hosting undefeated and 15th-ranked Grand Canyon in a 7 pm contest at Peter Johann Memorial Field. The Antelopes come into the game needing either a win or a tie to claim its first-ever WAC regular season title, while a loss would drop them to third place. The Rebels meanwhile are already locked into the fourth seed in next week’s WAC Tournament, which is being hosted at UNLV on April 13-17. Fifth-seeded Seattle will be UNLV’s first round opponent, in an 11 am contest on Tuesday, April 13.
GCU is the first ranked opponent for UNLV since dropping a 2-0 contest to No. 2 Saint Mary’s on Sept. 19, 2019. The last win for UNLV over a ranked team was a 1-0 victory at No. 23 Tulsa on August 31, 2018.
It will be offense against defense, as GCU comes in with a strong offensive attack, averaging 2.5 goals per game. UNLV’s defense is the stingiest in the league meanwhile, with a WAC-leading 0.83 team GAA and five shutouts.
Saturday’s game will be available to watch through the WAC Digital Network, which will have live links on UNLVRebels.com and can also be watched through the Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV and Android streaming devices. Wyatt Tomchek will provide the play-by-play and will be joined by Philipp Weise as color analyst.
