UNLV MEN’S SOCCER’S FUENTES PICKS UP SECOND NATIONAL WEEKLY HONORS

Sophomore selected to TopDrawerSoccer.com’s Team of the Week

UNLV midfielder Rodrigo Fuentes has received a third award this week, as he was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week. Earlier this week he was named the Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week and also received Team of the Week honors from College Soccer News, making him the first player in team history to receive two national weekly honors in the same week.

Fuentes, a sophomore and native of San Diego, Calif., posted a total of eight points over the weekend while leading the Rebels to a 2-0 record and the UNLV Nike Invitational title. He was named the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament, and also was selected to the all-tournament team. Though four games, Fuentes has nine points which leads the WAC and is tied for fourth in the nation. He’s also in the top 10 for total assists with three, which ties him for third. As a team, UNLV has 10 goals though four goals, which ties for the eighth-best total in the nation.

UNLV (2-2) returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 15, when it hosts Gonzaga at 1 pm at Peter Johann Field. That game will be webcast live by the Mountain West Network on UNLVRebels.com.
