UNLV MEN’S GOLF REMAINS FIFTH AFTER ISLEWORTH’S SECOND ROUND

Rebels shoot even par as a team on Monday, Kitayama tied for 10th individually

The UNLV men’s golf team shot a second-round even-par 288 on Monday and remained in fifth place after two round of play at the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational, which is being played at Isleworth Golf and Country Club (par 72, 7,387 yards).

UNLV’s 36-hole total is 2-under 574. Alabama leads the 15-team event at 24-under 552 after a second-round 16-under 272. UCF is second at 13-under, followed by California at 6-under and Illinois at 3-under.

Individually, Alabama’s Trey Mullinax has a two-shot lead at 10-under 134 after a second-round score of 68. His teammate Bobby Wyatt is second at 8-under.

UNLV has been led by junior Kurt Kitayama, who is tied for 10th at 3-under 141. He shot 1-over 73 on Monday. Sophomores Zane Thomas and AJ McInerney are also in the top 20 as Thomas is tied for 12th at 2-under 142 after a second-round even-par 72, and McInerney is tied for 19th at even-par 144 after a second-round 1-under 71.

Other Rebels: junior Carl Jonson is tied for 37th at 3-over after a second-round even-par 72, and freshman Taylor Montgomery is tied for 51st at 6-over 150 after a second-round 1-over 73. There are a total of 75 individuals competing.
