REBELS FINISH 12TH AS A TEAM AT COWBOY CLASSIC IN ARIZONA


UNLV shot a final-round 4-under Tuesday at the Whirlwind Golf Club’s Cattail Course

The UNLV men’s golf team shot a final-round 4-under-par 284 Tuesday at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, which was being played at the Whirlwind Golf Club’s Cattail Course (par 72, 7,334 yards). The Rebels finished the 54-hole event at 2-under 862.

 

San Diego State won the team title at 33-under 831, finishing six shots ahead of second-place TCU (27-under). Colorado was third at 11-under, followed by Loyola Marymount in fourth at 20-under. Stanford rounded out the top five at 19-under. UNLV placed 12th among the 23 competing teams.

 

Stanford’s Barclay Brown shot a final-round 7-under 65 to earn medalist honors with a three-round total of 14-under 202. There was a three-way tie for second at 12-under between TCU’s Filippo Celli, San Diego State’s Puwit Anupansuebsai and LMU’s Riley Lewis.

 

The Rebels were led individually by senior Jack Trent who tied for 17th at 4-under after a final-round 1-under 71. Sophomore George Leigh tied for 28th at 1-under, senior J.J. Gresco tied for 39th at 1-over, junior David Rauch tied for 67th at 6-over and sophomore Jack Kozlowski tied for 79th at 8-over. There were a total of 120 players competing.

 

NEXT FOR THE REBELS: UNLV will be back in action this Friday-Sunday, April 9-11 at the Aggie Invitational in Bryan, Texas, which will be hosted by Texas A&M.
