UNLV MEN’S GOLF CLOSES OUT REGULAR SEASON AT ASU’S THUNDERBIRD COLLEGIATE 


The two-day tournament will be played at Papago Golf Club Friday and Saturday in Phoenix

The UNLV men’s golf team will wrap up its regular season this weekend in Arizona, competing in Arizona State’s Thunderbird Collegiate, April 15-16 in in Phoenix. The two-day 54-hole event takes place at Papago Golf Club (Par 71 7,317 yards) with tee times beginning Friday morning at 7 a.m. PT.

 

After the Thunderbird, the Rebels will head to Washington State for the Mountain West Championships, which are set for April 29-May 1 at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton.

 

THE FIELD: This year’s tournament field will feature 15 teams, including five ranked in the Golfstat Top 10 rankings. Joining No. 4 Arizona State is Baylor, Boise State, New Mexico, No. 5 North Carolina, No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 2 Oklahoma State, Oregon State, San Francisco, SMU, South Florida, No. 7 Texas Tech, UCLA, UNLV and Utah.

 

UNLV LINEUP: Competing for the Rebels will be sophomore Caden Fioroni, junior George Leigh, sophomore Ben Sawaia and freshmen Aaron Jarvis and Tommy Kimmel.

 

SCHEDULE: The tournament will be held Friday-Saturday, April 15-16. Following Thursday’s practice round, 36 holes will be played Friday and the final 18 on Saturday.

MOUNTAIN WEST AWARDS: Rebel sophomore Caden Fioroni was named Mountain West Golfer of the Week on March 4 after he finished tied for 10th at the Southern Highlands Collegiate, which included a second-round 66.
