UNLV MEN’S GOLF 15TH AFTER FIRST DAY OF SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS COLLEGIATE
Junior Jack Trent leads Rebel individuals in tie for 40th at tournament that includes each of the top-five ranked teams in the country

The UNLV men’s golf team shot an opening-round 31-over-par 319 on Sunday at the Southern Highlands Collegiate, which is being played at Southern Highlands Golf Club (par 72, 7,374 yards).
The public is encouraged to attend the tournament and admission is free for this prestigious event that annually lures the country’s best college golf teams and each year ranks at or near the top of the collegiate golf schedule in terms of strength of field. This year’s event includes each of the nation’s top-five ranked teams and nine of the top 25.
Southern California is the only team under par after round one as the Trojans lead the 15-team event at 1-under 287. No. 4 Texas is second at 4-over, followed by UCLA in third at 5-over. No. 22 Florida and No. 7 Texas Tech are both tied for fourth at 7-over. The Rebels are in 15th place.
Individually, Georgia’s Davis Thompson and Southern California’s Yuxin Lin are tied for first at 5-under 67. UCLA’s Devon Bling is second at 4-under, while there is a six-way tie for fourth at 1-under.
UNLV was led by the event’s defending champion junior Jack Trent, freshman Falko Hanisch and freshman Jack Kozlowski (ind.), who are all tied for 40th at 5-over 77.
There are a total of 84 individuals competing.

REBEL NOTES:
- UNLVlost Mountain West Golferof the Year and All-America Scholar Harry Hall to graduation following last season. He competed at the prestigious Walker Cup in September, becoming just the third Rebel in program history to be invited.
- The Rebels have welcomed four new players to this year’s roster.
- Last year’s team appeared in a NCAA-record 31st straight regional and advanced to the national finals where it finished in the top 20.
- Trent and sophomore David Rauch are UNLV’s returning All-Mountain West performers. Trent is on the 2020 Ben Hogan Award Watch List.
- Senior Justin Kim, who turned in UNLV’s best individual finish at the NCAA Finals last season, was also named an All-America Scholar.
- This year marks head coach Dwaine Knight’s 33rd season leading the Rebel program.
