RUNNIN’ REBELS TO HOST SAN JOSE STATE WEDNESDAY
8 p.m. game at Thomas & Mack Center to include enhanced pregame show

The UNLV men’s basketball team (15-6, 4-4 MW) will play its second straight game at the Thomas & Mack Center, hosting San Jose State (3-17, 0-9 MW) on Wednesday, Jan. 31 at 8 p.m.
Prior to the start of the game, enhancements to the Runnin’ Rebels’ world-famous pregame show will be debuted. It is also UNLV Faculty & Staff Appreciation Night along with the Coaching for Literacy Game. The first 3,000 fans in attendance will receive a free book light, courtesy of Cox Communications and the first 300 fans to bring a donated book for Spread the Word Nevada will receive a $5 concession voucher. The Runnin’ Rebels have won two of their last three games and snapped an 11-game losing streak to San Diego State with their 88-78 victory on Saturday night. UNLV shot 58.6 percent from the field in that contest, which was the highest by an Aztecs opponent since 2006-07 – a stretch of 11 seasons and 403 games. Junior forward Shakur Juiston and freshman forward Brandon McCoy combined to score 42 points on 19 of 25 shooting, while collecting 18 rebounds. Juiston had his ninth double-double of the year with 21 points and 11 boards.
Prior to its current homestand, UNLV split its last road trip with a win at Colorado State (79-74) on Jan. 20 and a loss at Fresno State (69-63) on Jan. 23. UNLV went 11-2 during non-conference play this season with its only two losses coming in overtime – at Northern Iowa and vs. Arizona (now ranked No. 9) at home.
The Runnin’ Rebels are fifth in the country in field-goal percentage (51.0), eighth in scoring (86.2 ppg), 20th in rebounding (40.1 rpg) and 27th in assists per game (17.0). Individually, Justin and McCoy rank in the top 22 in the country in rebounding. Juiston is 21st (9.8 rpg), while McCoy is 22nd (9.8 rpg). UNLV is the only team in the nation with two top-22 rebounders. McCoy ranks 13th in double-doubles with 11, while Juiston is 31st with nine. Senior guard Jordan Johnson is 26th in the nation in assists with 5.9 apg.
Wednesday’s game will be televised by AT&T SportsNet with Jerry Schemmel and Joe Cravens calling the action.
