RUNNIN’ REBELS AT ARIZONA STATE ON SATURDAY
UNLV’s 6 p.m. MT / 5 p.m. PT game will be televised on Pac-12 Network
After winning its first road game of the season on Wednesday at Southern Utah (89-81), the Runnin’ Rebels (5-2) will head south to Tempe, Ariz., to face Arizona State (4-3) on Saturday at 6 p.m. MT / 5 p.m. PT at Wells Fargo Arena (10,754).
UNLV opened the season with six straight games at the Thomas & Mack Center, finishing the homestand with the Global Sports Classic last weekend, where he Runnin’ Rebels fell to TCU (63-59), then defeated Western Kentucky (71-61) to earn third place in the event.
UNLV has won two straight games and four of its last five overall.
In Wednesday’s victory over the Thunderbirds, junior forward Dwayne Morgan recorded his first double-double of the season and third of his career with a season-high 19 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. He was one of six Runnin’ Rebels to score in double figures for the game, while he also added three blocked shots. Sophomore guard Jalen Poyser leads UNLV in scoring average at 17.1 ppg over seven contests, while Morgan is the team’s rebounding leader at 7.3 rpg. Poyser also leads the team in assists (3.9 apg).
The Sun Devils are 3-0 at home this season and 61-14 (.813) at WFA over the last five years. ASU is coming off a 115-69 loss vs. No. 1 Kentucky on Monday in the Bahamas. Its three home wins are over Portland State (88-70), Cal Poly (96-74) and Citadel (127-110). Five Arizona State players are averaging in double figures in points led by junior guard Tra Holder (17.1 ppg).
Saturday’s game will be televised by Pac-12 Network with Roxy Bernstein and Eddie House calling the action. Jon Sandler and Robert Smith will handle the UNLV radio call, which may be heard live on ESPN Radio 1100 AM/100.9 FM and online (link at UNLVRebels.com).
