RUNNIN’ REBELS SIGN MORGAN ON FIRST DAY OF EARLY PERIOD

Forward from Baltimore, Md., will join the UNLV men’s basketball program for the 2014-15 season as a freshman

The UNLV men’s basketball program received a signed national letter of intent from Dwayne Morgan on the first day of the early signing period, head coach Dave Rice announced Wednesday.

Morgan, a 6-foot-7-inch, 215-pound forward Baltimore, Md., will enroll at UNLV next fall as a freshman.

“We are excited to have Dwayne join our program,” Rice said. “He is extremely versatile and is a high-energy competitor. Dwayne can score from a variety of spots on the floor and is a terrific rebounder and defender.”

A senior at St. Frances Academy, Morgan averaged 17.0 points and 8.0 rebounds last year. He is a five-star prospect that has been rated No. 15 overall in the class of 2014 by Rivals.com. In the ESPN 100 rankings he is 34th overall and ninth at his position, while Scout.com has him seventh in the country at the small forward spot.
