NINE FORMER REBELS PARTICIPATE IN ANNUAL UNLV PRO DAY

Scouts representing 12 NFL teams, along with two from the CFL, were in attendance at Monday’s annual UNLV Pro Day on campus.

Taking part in all or some of the timed and measured events at Lied Athletic Complex and Rebel Park were eight Rebels who just completed their college careers: DL Mike Hughes Jr., WR Devonte Boyd, LB Brian Keyes, OL Kyle Saxelid, QB/LB Johnny Stanton, DB Robert Jackson, DB Chauncey Scissum and OL Andrew Erbes. Former UNLV linebacker Tau Lotulelei, who played for UNLV from 2013-16, was also on hand to participate.

Organized by UNLV Director of Football Strength and Conditioning Sean Manuel, the day included the bench press, the vertical jump, the broad jump, the 40-yard dash and the three-cone drill.

Hughes recorded the top mark on bench with 32 reps, Jackson had the top vertical jump at 38.5 inches and Boyd unofficially ran the fastest 40 at just over 4.5.

In some additional individual drills, Stanton threw to Boyd, then ran some routes himself as a tight end. The defensive backs and linebackers – Jackson, Scissum, Keyes, Lotulelei and Stanton – all participated in some change-of-direction and ball skill drills as well.

Manuel was impressed with the how the group came out and performed after months of preparation.

“I’m really proud of these guys,” said Manuel. “They all came out with the right attitude and mentality. They worked really hard leading up to this, did their homework and put in the effort to be in the shape they needed to be in today. They showed up focused and ready to go, so I couldn’t be more proud of them.”

The 2018 NFL Draft will take place April 26-28 in Arlington, Texas at AT&T Stadium.
