The UNLV Basketball Showcase, which will be held in conjunction with a Rebel football game for the second straight year, will be located adjacent to the Rebel Block Party near the west entrance of the stadium. The unique event will begin at 6 p.m. before UNLV’s football game vs. Boise State (kickoff at 7:30 p.m.).
Open to the public, the Showcase will be the first chance for fans to get a glimpse of this year’s Runnin’ Rebels and Lady Rebels, and will feature team introductions, a variety of basketball competitions including both teams and fans, autographs and much more.
“We are looking forward to starting the season with this event at Sam Boyd Stadium before the Rebel football game,” UNLV men’s basketball head coach T.J. Otzelberger said. “It’s always great to be out in the community and this will give us another opportunity to get to know Rebel fans.”
The Thomas & Mack Center court that was used through the 2016-17 season will be transported to the stadium’s parking lot to be used along with portable bleachers.
“We enjoyed the Showcase last year,” UNLV women’s basketball head coach Kathy Olivier said. “It was a creative event and the reaction from our fans and student-athletes was overwhelmingly positive. We love getting a chance to connect with the community and we are looking forward to the event next month.”
Fans in attendance will receive the official team schedule posters for each program and students will get a free T-shirt (while supplies last). Additionally, vouchers will be distributed at the conclusion of the event (during autographs) for a Runnin’ Rebel challenge coin to be redeemed during the men’s basketball game vs. defending Big 12 Champion Kansas State on Saturday, November 9.
Free parking will be available at Sam Boyd Stadium for the Showcase. While fans don’t need tickets to attend the basketball event, tickets to the football game may be purchased at UNLVtickets.com, by calling 702-739-FANS (3267) or at the Thomas & Mack Center and Sam Boyd Stadium Box Offices.
