REBELS TAKE THE WIN OVER CAL POLY IN 10 INNINGS

The UNLV baseball team came back in the 10th inning to beat Cal Poly, 7-6, for the first game of the three-game home series Friday night at Earl E. Wilson Stadium.

The Rebels improved their record to 5-4, while the Mustangs dropped to 4-5.

REBELS OF THE GAME: Austin Kryszczuk and Gianni Horvat both hit 2-for-4 with a walk each to bring the Rebels into the 10th inning.

TURNING POINT: A run from Santino Panaro in the bottom of the ninth frame would tie the game (4-4) to bring the contest into the 10th inning.

The Mustangs took the lead back at the top of the 10th, driving in two runs off of two hits (6-4). The Scarlet & Gray answered back with two runs off of two wild pitches, one from Tanner Sagouspe and one from Derek True, to pull ahead and take the game.

Nick Rupp (1-0) earned his first win of the season after going 3.2 innings of relief, only allowing two runs off of eight hits.

Jason Franks (0-1) was saddled with the loss after pitching 0.1 innings of relief and allowing one walk.

UP NEXT: UNLV continues the three-game series against Cal Poly Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
