The UNLV baseball program earned the American Baseball Coaches Association’s Team Academic Excellence Award for the third consecutive year, the organization announced this week. The Rebels were one of 95 NCAA Division I teams and only one of two Mountain West squads to claim the scholastic accolade.

“All of the credit goes to our student-athletes and Alan Hott, our assistant director of student-athlete academic services,” said head coach Stan Stolte. “They know what we expect out of them in the classroom and Alan does a great job of putting them in a position to be successful.”

The ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award was open to any high school or collegiate (NCAA Division I, II and III; NAIA; and junior college) team that has a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale during the 2020-21 academic year. In all, over 200 high school programs and more than 380 collegiate programs were recognized with this year’s award.

2020-21 ACADEMIC YEAR: In addition to the Scarlet & Gray attaining the ABCA Award, the Rebels placed 33 student-athletes on the Spring 2021 Academic All-Mountain West Team, and had 14 recognized with the MW’s Scholar-Athlete Award.
