UNLV Director of Athletics Erick Harper announced two recent staff promotions on Tuesday.

Eric Nepomuceno, who has served as the Rebels’ Senior Associate Athletics Director of Compliance since 2018, has been elevated to Deputy Athletics Director, Chief Operating Officer, while Duraunte Cutts, who has been the department’s Senior Director of Development since 2019, will now serve as Associate Athletics Director for Development.

In addition to continuing to lead and administer the operations of UNLV Athletics’ compliance program, serving as the primary liaison to UNLV’s Office of General Counsel on legal matters, being the sports administrator for football and baseball, and a member of the athletics department’s executive and senior staffs, Nepomuceno now has added a major role in all internal administration to his responsibilities and will also oversee the department’s strategic planning initiatives processes.

“Eric is an outstanding and loyal staff member who cares deeply about the student-athlete experience,” Harper said. “He leads a critical area of our department that provides education and oversight for all NCAA and Mountain West rules and regulations, while helping to navigate the new NIL landscape. We are lucky to have him as part of our team.”

“I am extremely grateful for this wonderful opportunity that President Whitfield and Erick have afforded me,” Nepomuceno said. “I look forward to continuing to build here at UNLV and am excited by the current trajectory and momentum that we have. This is a remarkable university in an amazing community and I am fortunate to be in this position under such incredible leadership.”

Cutts’ focus has been to promote and enhance the student-athlete experience through philanthropic development and will now have a larger role in major gifts and the management of the Loyalty Circle program.

“With several staff departures to larger institutions, Duraunte has been a reliable and loyal staff member over the past seven months,” Harper said. “He understands the mindset of student-athletes and embraces the chance to impact and enhance their lives. The very moment that I was appointed interim AD, Duraunte came to me and asked, “what can I do to help make UNLV better as you lead our department?’”

“Having the opportunity to continue to grow in my career at UNLV under the leadership of President Whitfield and our new Athletics Director Erick Harper is such a blessing to me,” Cutts said. “I believe in their vision for this university and athletics department. I am grateful for this amazing opportunity to continue having an impact on enhancing the student-athlete experience and building on the lifelong relationships that I have made with them as well as our donors.”
