With UNLV Athletics’ announcement that home men’s and women’s basketball games would begin without fans due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department has launched a drive to fill each Lower Bowl seat in the Thomas & Mack Center with fan cutouts.

The Momentum Fund Pack the Mack Fan Cutout Drive aims to occupy each lower bowl seat with a fan cutout while generating essential scholarship support for UNLV’s community of student-athletes. A concentrated media and marketing emphasis will provide unprecedented publicity for all fan cutout drive contributors.

“With everyone’s health and safety at the forefront, we will start our basketball season without fans,” said UNLV Director of Athletics Desiree Reed-Francois. “However, that doesn’t mean that our seats need to be empty. I believe that our Rebel community will rally behind this initiative and have a presence at the Thomas & Mack Center when we tip off on November 25th.”

The strain of the pandemic can be felt across UNLV Athletics with lost ticket revenue impacting all areas of the department, including scholarship support.

“Basketball is here and, truly, this is the best time of the year for Rebels across our community,” said Senior Associate Athletic Director John Gladchuk. “Of course, this is not your typical year but we are launching this campaign to make sure our great fans have an opportunity to positively impact the trajectory of our season. Perhaps most significantly, all who participate will contribute life-changing scholarship funds. This is an ideal year-end giving opportunity and a wonderful way to show Rebel pride.”

As an added bonus, the cutouts will also be present for all women’s basketball games played this season in the Thomas & Mack Center.

“This is an awesome opportunity for impact,” said head men’s basketball coach T.J. Otzelberger. “We need all Rebels, everywhere, to embrace this campaign and help provide a championship edge this season.”

“This drive is the most direct and strategic way to advance our mission right now,” said new head women’s basketball head coach Lindy La Rocque. “We are all-in on this opportunity as a chance to show, despite the circumstances, that we are staying our championship course.”

Cutouts for UNLV basketball start at $59.00 and range up to $79.00 for a premium option that includes a signed cutout and picture with Coach Otzelberger. Discounts will be activated for fans who purchase a minimum of two.

The Runnin’ Rebels open the 2020-21 season against Montana State, while the Lady Rebels will face Northern Arizona. Both games will take place at the Thomas & Mack Center on November 25. Game times and ways to watch will be announced when confirmed.
