LADY REBELS GO ON FINAL NON-CONFERENCE ROAD TRIP

UNLV and DePaul will tip-off on Sunday, Dec. 15 at 12 p.m. PT/2 p.m. CT at Wintrust Arena

  The UNLV Lady Rebels are headed to Chicago for their final non-conference road trip playing two games in the Midwest. The Scarlet & Gray will first play DePaul on Sunday, Dec. 15, before capping off the trip visiting Northwestern on Wednesday, Dec. 18.

ABOUT DEPAUL: Sunday’s contest marks only the third meeting between the two squads. The last time the Scarlet & Gray faced DePaul was on Dec. 21, 2009 in the Lady Rebels’ home tournament, Duel in the Desert. DePaul holds the overall series 2-1 against UNLV. The Blue Demons head into Sunday’s game with a 4-7 record and coming off a 73-56 victory over UIC on Friday, Dec. 13. DePaul is currently being led by Jorie Allen who is averaging 18.8 points per game and Taylor Johnson-Matthews who is averaging 12.2 points per game. Meg Newman is the leading rebounder for the Blue Demons, averaging 7.5 rebounds per game.

NON-CON LADY REBEL LEADERS: More than halfway through the non-conference schedule, the Lady Rebels currently have three players scoring in double-digits. Senior guard Kiara Jackson and sophomore guard Amarachi Kimpson are leading the Scarlet & Gray each averaging 13.0 points per game. Sophomore forward McKinna Brackens is the third-leading scorer on the squad averaging 11.7 points per game, respectively. Under the hoop, redshirt freshman Meadow Roland leads UNLV in rebounds with 7.6 per game. Brackens and senior forward Alyssa Brown each are averaging 6.3 rebounds per game, respectively. Jackson additionally leads the Lady Rebels in assists, with 6.1 per game.

LAST TIME ON THE COURT: The UNLV women’s basketball team fell 71-64 in a tough non-conference battle at RV/No. 23 Baylor on Dec. 8 at Foster Pavilion. The Lady Rebels still hold the all-time series 4-1. The Scarlet & Gray had four players score in double-figures and were led by senior guard Kiara Jackson’s 18 points. Jackson also led the squad in rebounds with seven and in assists with a career-high tying nine. Jackson shot 7-for-13 from the field, 3-for-6 from three and was 1-for-2 from the free throw line. Sophomore guard Amarachi Kimpson was the second-leading scorer on the squad with 13 points and had a team-high three steals. Senior forward Alyssa Brown and sophomore forward McKinna Brackens each collected 10 points.

WHAT UP SQUAD: The Lady Rebels return 10 of the 14 players from its 2024 championship squad, including two starters and Mountain West Sixth Player and Freshman of the Year Amarachi Kimpson. UNLV added two freshmen guards Teagan Colvin and Elli Guiney, and junior transfer Aaliyah Alexander from Eastern Washington.

THREE-PEAT LAST SEASON: The Lady Rebels have continued to bring the heat last season, which culminated with a third consecutive Mountain West Regular Season and Tournament Titles. UNLV became the first program in MW history to claim both titles in three straight seasons. The Scarlet & Gray earned its third automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, a first in both program and league history. The Lady Rebels finished the season only one of two squads to have two (South Carolina) straight seasons with 30 wins. UNLV earned its highest ranking in both the AP and Coaches Poll coming in at No. 20 and No. 19. The Lady Rebels appeared in the Top-25 eight times this season and came into the season receiving votes for the first time in 19 years. UNLV claimed the MW’s Player of the Year in Desi-Rae Young (All-MW Team and All-Defensive Team), and Sixth and Freshman of the Year with Amarachi Kimspon (All-MW Team honorable mention and All-Freshman MW Team). Kiara Jackson earned All-MW team accolades and Alyssa Brown was named MW Tournament MVP.
