TRIO OF REBELS IN TOP 30 HEADING INTO FINAL ROUND AT SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS COLlEGIATE

Despite a Windy second round that left just team under par for the tournament, the UNLV men’s golf team ended Tuesday’s action with three players still in the top 30 in the Southern Highlands Collegiate at Southern Highlands Golf Club (Par 72, 7,510 yards).
Yuki Moriyama, who converted five birdies in his round, had the Rebels’ top day-two score at 1-over 73 to climb 23 spots on the individual leaderboard into a tie for 26th. Additionally, senior Caden Fioroni and junior Trevor Lewis each remained in the top 25 in a tie for 22nd at 1-over through 36 holes.
Oklahoma enters the third round as the lone team with a sub-par score at 1-under for a three-shot lead over North Carolina. Unphased by the outside conditions, Missouri’s Jack Lundin retained the top spot in the individual standings at 8-under.
Also competing for the Rebel lineup, sophomore Wyatt Plattner (+9) and senior Ben Sawaia (+11) are tied for 67th and 72nd, respectively. The remaining Rebels who are playing as individuals include sophomore Brett Sawaia (+5) in a tie for 46th, Billy Smith (+3) in a tie for 60th, sophomore Inigo Izuzquiza (+5) in a tie for 70th, as well as freshmen Hogan Park (+16) tied for 80th and Phillip Kench (+29) in 83rd.
