The UNLV baseball team couldn’t have asked for a better start to the 2023 season with a 14-6 victory over the Pacific Tigers for the first game of the three-game home series Friday night at Earl E. Wilson Stadium.
The Rebels now own a 1-0 record, while the Tigers sit at 0-1.
REBEL OF THE GAME: Kade Higgins had an incredible start to the season, hitting 4-for-5 with a homer and 2 RBI for the Scarlet & Gray.
TURNING POINT: UNLV took the lead early in the game, scoring four runs on five hits and one error in the bottom of the first frame. Pacific answered back at the top of the second with a run of their own off of two hits, only for the Rebels to add three more runs on three hits in the bottom of the second to secure the lead.
Nick Rupp (1-0) earned his first win of the season after going 4.0 innings of relief, only allowing one run on three hits.
Grant Stevens (0-1) was saddled with the loss after pitching 3.0 innings, allowing right runs on 10 hits.
UP NEXT: UNLV continues the three-game home series against Pacific Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
