THREE REBELS FINISH IN TOP 30 AT UC SAN DIEGO INVITATIONAL
Senior Ben Sawaia tied for 14th, freshman Phillip Kench tied for 24th and junior Brett Sawaia tied for 30th to lead four UNLV individuals

Three UNLV men’s golf individuals finished among the top 30 in the UC San Diego Invitational at Torrey Pines Golf Course (Par 72, 7,258 yards).
Senior Ben Sawaia tied for 14th at 2-over 218, freshman Phillip Kench – in his return to his hometown – tied for 24th at 4-over 220 and junior Brett Sawaia tied for 30th at 5-over 221 for the tournament. Topping off the list of four Rebels competing as individuals, freshman Hogan Park (+23) tied for 100th.
Winning the team trophy, North Dakota State never relinquished its day-two lead as it shot a 3-under to finish at 7-under 857 through 54 holes. Taking individual medalist honors, NDSU’s Jack Johnson broke a tie for first at the start of the day with a final-round 5-under 67 on the way to a final score of 8-under 208.
UP NEXT: The Rebels return to team competition in Maricopa, Arizona, at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic scheduled for April 1-2.
