THREE-MEMBER SIGNING CLASS JOINS REBEL PROGRAM
Head coach Amy Bush-Herzer’s new additions include Demi Du, Yen Liu and Lana Yamagata
The UNLV women’s golf program has received three signed commitments for the 2025-26 season, head coach Amy Bush-Herzer announced Friday.
Those signings include Demi Du (Las Vegas, NV/Shenzhen, Guangdong, China), Yen Liu (New Taipei, Taiwan) and Lana Yamagata (South Pasadena, CA).
Originally from Shenzhen, Guangdong, China, Du attends the local Trinity International School in Las Vegas. Among her best amateur performances, she claimed international wins at the 2023 FCG Collegiate National Championship in San Diego and the 2022 China Junior Classic. Additionally, Du was named the 2024 Southern Nevada Junior Golf (SNJG) Girls Player of the Year after winning three SNJG events and adding a runner-up finish.
“We’re proud to keep Demi in Las Vegas and have her represent UNLV. Her potential is limitless, and we can’t wait to see what she’ll accomplish,” said Bush-Herzer.
A native of South Pasadena, California, Yamagata signs with the Scarlet & Gray off her own trail of success in various amateur events. Her top finishes include victories at the 2024 FCG Washington Championship World Series at Chambers Bay, the 2024 AJGA Sacramento Junior Championship Qualifier at Haggin Oaks, the 2023 Walnut High School Invitational and co-champion honors at the 2023 Southern California Junior Girls & Collegiate Partners Championship. Along with those highlights, Yamagata has a strong track record on the Southern California PGA Junior Tour (SCPGA) as champion of the 2023 SCPGA Two-Day Fall Series at Rancho California to go along with eight wins in 2022.
“Lana is a perfect fit for our program. Her skills, work ethic and positive attitude will be a valuable asset to our team,” said Bush-Herzer.
Hailing from New Taipei, Taiwan, Liu also brings past success in international amateur events to the UNLV program. Headlining her handful of top-5 finishes this year, she won the inaugural FCG Tournament of Champions held in San Diego at Rancho Bernardo Inn and grabbed a third-place finish at the International Junior Masters in East Aurora, New York, in June.
“We’re so excited to announce the signing of Yen. We can’t wait to see what she’ll accomplish on and off the course. Her international experience, hard work and skill set will help elevate our program,” said Bush-Herzer.
