The Venetian and The Palazzo Celebrate World Wildlife Fund’s “I Will If You Will” Environmental Campaign

The Venetian® And The Palazzo® Celebrate World Wildlife Fund’s “I Will If You Will” Environmental Campaign
“I Will If You Will” encourages participants to take ongoing actions for the environment beyond Earth Hour

WHAT: The Venetian® and The Palazzo® will commemorate World Wildlife Fund’s Earth Hour for the fourth consecutive year by turning off non-essential lighting at both LEED® certified resorts, including exterior lighting, rooftop signage, marquees and façade features. Earth Hour is an annual environmental campaign celebrated worldwide that challenges organizations and individuals to turn off lights for one hour each March to show their commitment to global green initiatives. The proud participation of The Venetian and The Palazzo is just one piece of globally-minded parent company Sands’ comprehensive Sands ECO360° environmental program. The Sands ECO360˚ Global Sustainability program is designed to help minimize environmental impact and lead the way in sustainable building development and resort operations. The Venetian, The Palazzo and the Sands Expo combined comprise one of the world’s largest LEED certified buildings.

This year, Sands is increasing its participation by joining the World Wildlife Fund’s “I Will If You Will” campaign, an extension of Earth Hour to encourage positive action for the environment, beyond the hour. “I Will If You Will” invites participants to share their commitment to the planet by issuing challenges to others, and in return, promising to take ongoing actions for the environment. Sands has also issued a challenge to its 40,000 team members worldwide, asking all team members to take Earth Hour home and turn off lights there. In the spirit of a challenge, the company is planning to plant one tree for every participating employee at the property with the biggest participating team. An example of one of these challenges at The Venetian and The Palazzo is John Caparella, president and COO of The Venetian, The Palazzo and Sands Expo and Pete Boyd, Senior Vice President, pledging to pedal bike-powered blenders to create smoothies, if 1,000 team members participate in Earth Hour.
