THE UNDERGROUND SPEAKEASY AT THE MOB MUSEUM FEATURES LIVE MUSIC, LIMITED-EDITION COCKTAILS AND MORE IN JULY 

In July, The Underground speakeasy and distillery inside The Mob Museum, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, will offer a variety of cocktail specials and weekly live music. The full roster of July programs in The Underground follows.

Description: Revel in the sounds of the Jazz Age once more with music in The Underground speakeasy. Featuring a rotating roster of talented performing artists presented in an atmosphere surrounded by Prohibition-era artifacts, The Underground offers an immersive 1920s-inspired experience like none other.

  • The Old Fashions blend the best of the jazz and blues worlds with classics from Sinatra to Armstrong.
  • Red Penny Arcade is a dynamic musical quartet which delivers a huge range of popular music from every imaginable era and genre, set in a 1920-40s style.
  • Nieve Malandra mixes international styles with American jazz and The Great American Songbook, singing in five languages to appeal to exotic tastes.
  • The Volsteads, a trio, brings to life sounds of acoustic Depression-era blues.
  • Colte Julian captivates the audience with his dynamic performances on the piano along with unique renditions of classics.  
  • Shaun DeGraff plays re-imagined jazz influenced versions of modern popular songs. A true vintage jazz experience.
  • Amanda King combines the best of the jazz and cabaret worlds by applying her creative interpretation of the words, the music and the swing.

National Mojito Day
Date: Available for a limited time starting Sunday, July 11.
Time: Monday through Wednesday in The Underground from noon to 10 p.m. and Thursday through Sunday from noon to midnight.

Description: The Underground at The Mob Museum invites guests to choose their own mojito including flavors such as classic mint, raspberry and pineapple-jalapeño. Each mojito is crafted with Flor de Cana, lime, mint simple syrup, fresh mint leaves, soda water and topped accordingly.

Diplomático Rum Tasting: History With Every Sip
Date: Wednesday, July 14
Time: 8 p.m.
Location: The Underground Speakeasy and Distillery
Cost: $69 per person. Must be 21 years or older to participate.
Description:  Guests will experience the luxurious taste and exceptional quality of Diplomático’s field-to-bottle rum. Rum has performed a storied role in the history of the Americas, from pirates and navy rations to resourceful rumrunners during Prohibition.

Date: Available for a limited time starting Monday, July 19.
Time: Monday through Wednesday in The Underground from noon to 10 p.m. and Thursday through Sunday from noon to midnight.

Cost: $12
Description: In honor of National Daiquiri Day celebrated on July 19, guests can visit The Underground at The Mob Museum and enjoy the Habana Riviera named after Meyer Lansky’s hotel and casino in Cuba. This refreshing libation is made with 12-year-old Appleton, lime and simple syrup served in an Absinthe rinsed glass.

National Tequila Day
Date: Available for a limited time while supplies lasts starting Saturday, July 24.
Time: Monday through Wednesday in The Underground from noon to 10 p.m. and Thursday through Sunday from noon to midnight.

Cost: $12 per tequila cocktail
Description: The Underground at The Mob Museum invites guests to celebrate National Tequila Day with a selection of three tequila-inspired cocktails.

  • Cadillac Margarita
    The history of the margarita is hazy, but you don’t need to understand its origin story to appreciate its appeal. In honor of Cinco de Mayo, enjoy a luxurious Cadillac Margarita made with Maestro Dobel Reposado tequila and Grand Marnier.
  • Paloma
    Enjoy Cantera Negra Reposado in a refreshing and effervescent Paloma. Known as Mexico’s national aperitif, this cocktail’s combination of grapefruit, lime and soda will quench every thirst.
  • Anejo Old Fashioned
    A reimagined classic. Enjoy an inventive modification of the old fashioned cocktail with aged tequila, agave and bitters.

Spend $75 and Receive a Complimentary Bottle of The Mob Museum’s Signature Moonshine
Date: Throughout the month of July.
Time: Available Monday through Wednesday in The Underground from noon to 10 p.m. and Thursday through Sunday from noon to midnight.

Description: Guests who spend $75 or more in The Underground speakeasy on food and drinks will take home a free bottle of 50ml signature moonshine. Some savvy bootleggers were successful at making moonshine that pleased the palate. The Mob Museum’s house-distilled moonshine follows in this tradition, as authentic as it can safely get.

ABOUT THE UNDERGROUND
The Underground is an immersive Prohibition history experiential exhibition, featuring a distillery, speakeasy and private VIP room located in the basement of The Mob Museum. Its custom-made, copper-pot still, dubbed “Virginia Still” after mobster Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel’s notorious girlfriend Virginia Hill, has a capacity of 60 gallons and can serve up to 250 750-mL jars of moonshine per week. The Underground also brews and serves craft beer onsite.
