Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter-guitarist Boz Scaggs has been making musical hits since the ’60s. From his early days with the Steve Miller Band to his smash solo album, Silk Degrees, he has blended pop, rock and R&B in crowd favorite songs including Lido Shuffle and Lowdown.

During his evening here at The Smith Center, Scaggs will feature tracks from his gorgeous new collaboration album, A Fool to Care, as a part of his impressive live repertoire.

A Fool to Care is an album with plenty of Louisiana swing and Texas swagger. On it, he teams up with marquee musicians Bonnie Raitt and Lucinda Williams on duets and Ray Parker, Jr. on guitar. The work’s twelve songs include the Latin-flavored “Last Tango on 16th Street,” an energetic cover of Al Green’s “Full of Fire” and a haunting version of The Band’s “Whispering Pines.”

Sinatra Sings Sinatra – The Centennial Celebration is a one-of-a-kind, multi-media experience that pays tribute to the 100th anniversary of the birth and legacy of Frank Sinatra. In stories, photos, videos and songs, Frank Sinatra Jr. delivers first-hand recollections of life on and off stage with his iconic father.

The Sinatra legend began growing from the first hits with the big bands of Harry James and Tommy Dorsey to the Voice, as he became know in 1946 that made the bobbysoxers swoon. In later years he became known as The Chairman of the Board and eventually, Ol’ Blue Eyes, but who was the man?

This show explains it all with excerpts from his films, rare family photos and insights into the world’s greatest entertainer that can only come from his son.

Above all, this evening is about the music of Sinatra. Come Fly With Me; New York, New York; Strangers in the Night, and of course My Way, plus many more will be backed by a wonderful orchestra/big band featuring many members who played with Sinatra Sr.

The Miss Nevada competition serves as a preliminary to the prestigious Miss America pageant. The Miss Nevada Scholarship Organization’s purpose is to change lives and positively influence Nevada’s young women. The organization proudly offers academic and community service-based scholarships for undergraduate and graduate studies, provides a forum for young women to showcase their talents, encourages civic-mindedness and eloquence, supports STEM initiatives and empowers young women to strive for excellence. Holding themselves to the highest standards, contestants inspire others and serve as positive role models throughout their communities.

The Miss America Organization is one of the largest providers of scholarships to women in the world. Each year the organization offers millions of dollars in scholarships to its contestants and is honored to promote what the four points of the Miss Nevada and Miss America crowns symbolize: style, scholarship, service and success.

Joined by the Christian Tamburr Trio, Clint Holmes will perform fresh, improvisational takes on classic songs by musical greats like Nat King Cole, Bonnie Raitt, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Sam Smith.

The intimate, evocative and lounge-like setting of Cabaret Jazz will be a perfect match for the Christian Tamburr Trio’s backing sound. Led with the reverberating atmospherics of the vibraphone by Tamburr, the swinging band also includes William Thornton on bass and Billy Williams Jr. on drums. Conversations with Norm Presents “Remembering Sinatra” Featuring Bob Anderson, Pia Zadora and Vince Falcone

Conversations with Norm is a quarterly interview presentation hosted by man-about-town columnist Norm Clarke, who has been covering the celebrity scene for the Las Vegas Review-Journal since 1999.

In this installation, Norm will be talking to three of Sinatra’s longtime friends, Bob Anderson (Frank: The Man. The Music.), Vince Falcone (Sinatra and Anderson’s musical director) and Pia Zadora (Sinatra’s opening act and her mentor), as they share their personal stories of the legendary entertainer.

The event will include emcee Shawn Tempesta of KTNV’s The Morning Blend. Proceeds will benefit the Education and Outreach Programming of The Smith Center.
