The Shade Tree is seeking donations for its summer camp
Community members encouraged to donate items including arts and crafts, gift cards and nut free snacks: now through June 23
WHAT: The Shade Tree, a 24-hour accessible emergency shelter and resource center designed to specifically meet the needs of domestic violence and human trafficking survivors and their children, in partnership with Youth Futures International, is seeking donations for a summer camp taking place at The Shade Tree. Donations are being accepted via appointment now through June 23.
Designed exclusively for the children staying at the shelter, the camp encourages children to develop new friendships and learn critical life skills through a variety of activities, including arts and crafts, sports, mindfulness yoga and educational sessions. It will also provide children and their parents/guardians an opportunity to share their experiences and challenges with other members of the community in a safe place, empowering them to regain confidence to rebuild their lives. The summer camp is led by experienced counselors, volunteers and community partners.
Items in new condition that are needed include:
- Craft and jewelry making activity sets (5-17 years old)
- Crayons and washable markers
- Play dough
- Stickers
- Water-color paints and paint brushes
- Fabric, needles and thread
- Outdoor activities: balls, jump ropes and reusable water balloons
- Gift Cards: Wal-Mart, Hobby Lobby, Michael’s, Amazon
- Individually wrapped snacks and treats (nut-free)

ABOUT THE SHADE TREE
The Shade Tree, a 35-year Southern Nevada nonprofit, is a 24-hour accessible emergency shelter for domestic violence and human trafficking survivors and their children. The Shade Tree partners with Noah’s Animal House, located on the organization’s campus, to provide pet services for its clients.
