The Park to Showcase One-of-a-Kind, Life-Size
LEGO® Brick Sculptures
Artist Nathan Sawaya brings Interactive “Park People”
Installation to The Park
LEGO bricks will come to life at The Park on October 14 for a one-of-a-kind art installation constructed by renowned artist Nathan Sawaya.
Visitors to The Park, MGM Resorts International’s newly opened outdoor dining and entertainment district on the Las Vegas Strip, are invited to discover Sawaya’s new installation PARK PEOPLE featuring large-scale monochromatic human figures crafted entirely from LEGO bricks and situated curiously on elegant wooden benches. Strategically placed throughout The Park, the nine brightly colored sculptures are all taking their individual respites, allowing guests to sidle up next to these “secret keepers” and bare their souls, or take selfies with their new LEGO friends.
“The versatile open-air space of The Park allows us to offer a variety of fun and fresh experiences so guests have something new to discover each time they return,” said Don Thrasher, president of Park District Holdings. “PARK PEOPLE is a playful installation and we look forward to seeing how our visitors interact with these unique pieces.”
Award-winning artist Sawaya began his professional career as a corporate lawyer, but after years of mergers and acquisitions, he decided to pursue his artistic passion full time and became the first contemporary artist to use the popular toy as an art medium. His success quickly took off and his exhibitions have broken attendance records around the world, inspiring both adults and children alike to interact and admire his playful pieces.
“Most of my artwork tours the globe in THE ART OF THE BRICK exhibition, and is only experienced indoors. One of my primary goals as an artist is to make art as accessible as possible, so it was time to conceive a new collection for the outdoors,” said Sawaya. “It’s only fitting that we bring PARK PEOPLE to The Park. I hope locals and visitors alike come check them out and sit for a bit.”
Showcasing his work in Las Vegas for the first time, Sawaya’s installation will be on display until December 30. For more information please visit theparkvegas.com.
