ON APRIL 1, SEE THE GRAND CANYON BY HELICOPTERS, HARLEY COURTESY OF THE PAPILLON GROUP
This is no April Fool’s Joke: on Tuesday, April 1, outdoor enthusiasts will be able explore and experience the Grand Canyon by air and by ground. The date marks the return of The Papillon Group’s popular tour enabling guests to fly over the Grand Canyon’s North and South Rims and then see it from the ground by riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Created exclusively by Papillon, the world’s largest “flightseeing” company and in partnership with EagleRider, whose mission is to turn the dreams of adventure travelers into reality, the tours are now available to book via www.Papillon.com through Nov. 4. As with all Papillon experiences, round-trip shuttle transportation is available from most Southern Nevada hotels and resorts. These tours are ideal for small groups as well, ranging from bachelor parties to corporate incentive trips. With a valid motorcycle license, guests may drive their own Harley-Davidson; if they do not possess a license, an EagleRider guide will drive, enabling the passenger to sit back and relax.
The new tour for 2014 aptly titled, “Grand Canyon Connoisseur With Harley” is a nearly 10-hour journey that begins in Las Vegas. Experience the picturesque Grand Canyon South Rim from two spectacular perspectives—by air aboard a flightseeing airplane and by ground in the open air astride a Harley from EagleRider. The tour will begin with a scenic flight originating from Papillon’s Aerocenter in Boulder City, Nev. (located just 30 minutes outside of Las Vegas). The flight whisks guests to Grand Canyon National Park. From there, they land and embark upon a two and a half hour guided motorcycle tour by EagleRider. Boxed lunches and cold drinks are provided, along with a jacket, helmet and gloves. Fuel and basic insurance are also included (with a $300 deductible). The entire tour lasts nine and a half hours. Price per person: $534.
For guests already at Grand Canyon National Park, the “North Canyon Helicopter Tour With Harley” enables the group to venture from the South to the North rims, boasting incredible views of the canyon’s deepest and widest part, at one mile down. Guests first experience the North Canyon Helicopter aerial tour of the North Rim and Central region of Grand Canyon. Upon their return landing at the South Rim, guests are greeted by a guide for a two and a half hour guided motorcycle tour. Boxed lunches and cold drinks will be provided, along with a jacket, helmet and gloves. Price per person: $399.
