-The Museum’s new Prohibition-history exhibition space able to accommodate cocktail receptions, meetings, presentations, concerts.
-Onsite A/V services and programmable flat-screen TVs throughout the spaces.
-Speakeasy includes space for a stage for live entertainment.
The Mob Museum, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, has added a flexible new space, The Underground, to its variety of existing private event options. Opened earlier this year, The Underground’s basement-level Speakeasy and Distillery—complete with a “secret” side entrance only those with the proper password can access—represent focal points of the Museum’s exciting new interactive Prohibition-history exhibition.
The Underground measures 2,814 square feet and can accommodate up to 130 total guests in three separate spaces. Meetings and events booked here offer groups an immersive experience, transporting them back to the 1920s when outlawed liquor gave rise to the Mob. Exhibits and artifacts reveal fascinating tales about historic figures, cultural developments and social change associated with Prohibition, while the Speakeasy offers signature Prohibition-era drinks as well as moonshine and craft beer produced in the adjacent Distillery.
About The Underground Speakeasy
Perfect for a corporate reception or presentation, The Underground Speakeasy is the largest space, entirely re-envisioning the typical museum exhibition experience. It takes visitors on an uncommonly vivid journey back in time: Situated discreetly in the basement of the Museum, The Underground encompasses 2,814 square feet appointed with luxurious, Art Deco design motifs. Guests of The Underground are encouraged to ponder the time when consuming alcohol was not only a criminal act, but also bred secret watering holes–some of which became the most glamorous places to be. The Speakeasy cocktail menu includes typical Prohibition cocktails such as Bee’s Knees, Underground Old Fashioned, Ginger Jake and Giggle Water. A variety of coffee cocktails, draft beer, bottled beer, wines by the glass and non-alcoholic cocktails are also available. Live entertainment and presentations may be arranged on a stage or on multiple, programmable flat-screen TVs, while the Museum offers full A/V support onsite. The Underground Speakeasy can accommodate groups of up to 90 guests.
About The Fitting Room
The Underground’s most intimate and exclusive space is a VIP hideaway called “The Fitting Room” concealed by a secret entrance off the Speakeasy accommodating up to 10 guests in a lounge atmosphere.
About The Underground Distillery
The Underground’s Distillery may be reserved on its own and makes an uncommon break-out meeting or reception location. The distinctive space produces moonshine as well as house-made beer crafted and offered at The Underground Speakeasy. The Underground’s corn-mash moonshine is distilled in The Underground’s 60-gallon, custom-made copper-pot still. Capable of producing 250 750-ml jars of moonshine per week, the gleaming still forms the focal point of the distillery. Guided Distillery Tours, including moonshine tastings, delivered by Museum educators may be added on to any Museum group booking. The Distillery can accommodate up to 30 guests and is adjacent to the Speakeasy.
