The Mob Museum, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, announces its roster of public programs for July.

Annual Blood Drive with American Red Cross
Date: Thursday, July 8
Time: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Location: In the American Red Cross’s Bloodmobile located in the parking lot behind the Museum.
Cost: Free
Description: The Mob Museum is partnering with the American Red Cross to sponsor a blood drive in the American Red Cross mobile blood unit. As part of its commitment to the community, the Museum is pleased to offer one complimentary single admission ticket to each person donating blood. Crime Solving in the 21st Century: Careers in Forensic Science
Date: Saturday, July 10
Time: 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Description: Interest in forensic science has skyrocketed, in recent years, in large part because of its featured role in numerous popular TV crime series. Teachers at Veterans Tribute Career & Technical Academy in Las Vegas will discuss forensic science for those interested in pursuing careers in the field. They will also highlight a recent school project in which students were tasked with investigating 60 unidentified John and Jane Doe cases.
Mob Doctor: The Physician Who Saved a Mafia Boss’s Life and Changed History
Date: Wednesday, July 14
Time: 7 to 8 p.m.

Description: Dr. Barbara Roberts, a Rhode Island cardiologist, saw her life turn upside down when she was tasked with saving the life of Raymond Patriarca Sr., boss of the New England Mafia. While Roberts focused on her fragile patient’s health, she and her family dealt with criticism for her role in the crime kingpin’s legal battles. Roberts’ memoir, “Doctor Broad: A Mafia Love Story,” details her experiences in the final years of Patriarca’s life, as well as her love affair with a future Mafia boss.
Community Safety Forum: Juvenile Delinquency Prevention
Date: Sunday, July 18
Time: 2 to 3 p.m.

Cost: Free. Thanks to NV Energy, pre-registered guests are given free admission to the Museum following the event.
Description: Presented in partnership with the Clark County Law Foundation, this program will focus on alternative programs for juvenile offenders. Patrick Montejano, program director for the Clark County Law Foundation, will discuss ways in which young people can take advantage of several programs, including Trial By Peers and the Let Freedom Ring project. Trial By Peers is an innovative program used as an alternative for first-time and some second-time juvenile offenders. Let Freedom Ring provides community service projects throughout Southern Nevada that are integrated with law-related education.
Each month, The Mob Museum partners with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and other local agencies to host Community Safety Forums – free public programs focused on pertinent issues that affect Southern Nevada. Thanks to NV Energy, pre-registered guests are given free admission to the Museum following the event. The Mob Museum will also provide a recording of this presentation on its website.
“Operation Summer Camp”
Date: The Mob Museum will host two distinctive camps throughout July including:
“Operation: Investigation II”: Monday, July 12 through Friday, July 16
“Operation: Forensic Science II”: Monday, July 19 through Friday, July 23
Time: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Location: “Operation Summer Camp” will be held virtually. Registration for the camps must be completed by Wednesday, June 30. To register, click here.
Cost: $150 per camper or $125 for Museum Members. For those purchasing multiple camp registrations, a 15 percent discount will be applied to the second or multiple registration(s).
Description: Calling all sleuths and science lovers, now’s your chance to put your detective skills to the test. Explore the exciting work of police officers, crime scene investigators and forensic scientists with this hands-on and immersive virtual summer camp series. Participants join campers from around the country for interactive, live-instruction lessons all aimed at increasing your skills in a fun and engaging atmosphere. This is not your typical game of cops and robbers. Each summer camp includes 20 hours of fun and educational activities. Each participant is sent an activity kit with the supplies needed for their camp experience.
Behind the Scenes of Breaking Bad: ‘Gonzo’ Actor Jesus Payan Jr. Tells All

Description: Hailed as one of the greatest television series of all time, “Breaking Bad” tells the story of a high school chemistry teacher turned drug kingpin. In the show, actor Jesus Payan Jr. played “Gonzo,” a lieutenant to a violent Mexican drug cartel boss. Payan will describe his experiences on the set and offer insights into the making of a series that continues to captivate viewers more than seven years after its final episode.
