The Las Vegas Fashion Council Expands in 2023 –
Growth includes the addition of events, awarding more scholarship funds, becoming a member of the CFDA Connects program and collaborating with other nonprofit organizations
Scholarship Applications Due Jan. 31
–The LVFC held its annual Little Black Dress event, transforming the Porsche dealership and raised $25,000 to benefit the LVFC scholarship fund. Guests enjoyed a live fashion show by local designers and established brands, as well as student, emerging and established design competitions. The Fashion show featured designs from local boutique, Vasari and pop-up shops included Maceoo, Dee Berkley Jewelry, and Leonne Collection. Sponsors included: Las Vegas Fashion Council, Nevada Arts Council, Gaudin Porsche of Las Vegas, BESTAgency, Vasari, Breakthrough Beverage, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Austin Sherwood, JB Public Relations, Louis Voisine and numerous donations from local businesses.
The LVFC is proud to support local fashion industry students. They present numerous opportunities for students to participate in design competitions, educational presentations,internships, and mentoring opportunities. The LVFC partners with The Public Education Foundation to award up to 10 annual scholarships to fashion industry students. The 2023 scholarship application is open until Jan. 31, and students can apply at thepef.academicworks.com.
Additionally, The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) has welcomed the Las Vegas Fashion Council (LVFC) as a member of the CFDA Connects program. The CFDA is a not-for-profit trade association whose membership consists of 477 of America’s
foremost womenswear, menswear, jewelry, and accessory designers. The mission of the CFDA is to strengthen the impact of American fashion in the global economy. “We created CFDA Connects to champion and elevate American fashion talent in cities
across the country. We all know Las Vegas as a destination for entertainment and hospitality, and through our efforts with LVFC, fashion will also define the city’s culture,” says Steven Kolb, president of CFDA.
