The Dr. Miriam & Sheldon G. Adelson Educational Campus’ Upper School Class of 2014 Graduated on Sunday, June 1st
Adelson Campus graduates its 100th student since the addition of an Upper School in 2007
The administration and Board of Trustees at The Dr. Miriam and Sheldon G. Adelson Educational Campus awarded diplomas to the campus’ fifth graduating class on Sunday, June 1st. Other notable guests included representatives from the United States Military Academy and local business leaders. With a 100 percent graduation and college placement rate, the class of 2014 had a total of 28 graduates, and for the fifth year in a row received over $1.5 million dollars in college scholarships.
“We are so proud of the class of 2014 and are confident that they will go on to accomplish wonderful achievements,” said Paul Schiffman, Head of School of Adelson Educational Campus. “These students are prepared for the challenge of college and are poised to prosper in life due to the support and growth they’ve received while at the Adelson Upper School. They are true citizens of the world, committed to a life-long pursuit of improving the world. With the help of our wonderful staff and faculty, we have laid the foundation for these students to continue a legacy of knowledge, excellence and perseverance.”
Valedictorian and future doctor, Remy Schlossberg’s eloquent speech focused on her experience as an Adelson Campus “lifer.” She reflected on her greatest memories and inspirations, as well as the bright future ahead for her and her classmates. Remy started at the Adelson Campus in 1999 as a preschool student. As she spoke to fellow graduates, in particular Alexis Baranoff and Pamela Green, whom she has gone to school with since preschool, she touched on the fact that these young men and women were much more than her classmates, they were part of her family. Remy reflected on the impact that being in a safe environment, filled with diverse courses and unique opportunities such as the Model United Nations competitions and meeting Nobel Laureates and world leaders, has had on her academics and personal ambitions.
Head of Upper School Leslie Smith Rosen praised Remy and her gracious persona. “Remy is not only a top student, talented artist and state ranked tennis player, but she also has been a major force of inspiration when it comes to helping her community. I am sure she will make a huge impact on the future of medicine and science. Although I didn’t have the privilege of meeting her until after she returned from the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine at Emory University last summer, getting to know her and her classmates was the highlight of my first year at the Adelson Campus. I look forward to seeing the amazing accomplishments made by Remy and all of her fellow graduates!”
Adelson Educational Campus has a total of 100 alumni since the Upper School’s first graduating class left for college in 2010. These pioneering alumni have recently graduated with honors from such prestigious colleges as Harvard, Smith and McGill University in Montreal. This year’s class is following in their footsteps as they look forward to starting the next phase of their education at great institutions such as Washington University in St. Louis, University of California, Los Angeles, West Point, University of Maryland, New York University and many more.
