Haunted House “Asylum” Makes Downtown Debut
Tap into fear during Fremont Street Experience’s Fourth Annual OktoberFrightFest; the ultimate festival that combines Oktoberfest and Halloween for a month-long street party in October. Guests can get their scream on as the wildly popular, nationally ranked haunted house Asylum, makes its downtown debut on Fremont Street Experience’s 3rd Street North area.
“Fremont Street Experience has been combining Oktoberfest and Halloween for four years to create OktoberFrightFest, and each year it just keeps getting better,” said Jeff Victor, president at Fremont Street Experience. “This year we have added the haunted house Asylum, which we are sure will scare the pants off of everyone.”
The spook-tacular nightly fun kicks off Monday, Oct. 1 and continues throughout “Oktober,” ending on Halloween, Monday, Oct. 31. Fremont Street Experience will once again transform itself for Oktoberfest and Halloween, featuring; the haunted house Asylum, Viva Vision light and sound shows themed to “Time Warp” and “Monster Mash,” outdoor bars featuring beer and drink specials, the Third Annual Fall Beer Festival at Golden Nugget, three free Halloween-themed stage shows and more.
OKTOBERFRIGHTFEST ENTERTAINMENT LINEUP
Asylum:
Known nationwide for pioneering the trailer-haunt concept, Asylum takes you on a terrifying journey through the story of the Meadview Asylum, headed by Dr. Vander and his son Adriane. Patrons must navigate the dark hallways where the patients have taken over the “Asylum,” leading them through a terrifying series of fright-inducing rooms including: admitting area, nurse’s station, patients’ rooms, therapy room, the morgue and much more.
Asylum, located on Fremont Street Experience’s 3rd Street North area, will be open on Fridays and Saturdays from 6:30 p.m. – midnight and on Thursdays and Sundays from 6:30 p.m. – 10 p.m. on the following dates: Oct. 5-7, Oct. 11-14, Oct. 18-21, and Oct. 25-28. In celebration of Halloween, Asylum will also be open on Tuesday, Oct. 30 from 6:30 p.m. – 10 p.m. and on Wednesday, Oct. 31 from 6:30 p.m. – midnight. General Admission is $15. A VIP ticket is also available for $20 and allows the ticketholder to bypass the line. Nevada residents receive a $3 discount.
Live Shows during OktoberFrightFest:
“Frank & The Steins” is a live musical revue of classic Halloween songs. The cast is comprised of hot ghouls and guys; singers, dancers and live musicians performing songs including “Psycho Killers,” “Spooky,” “Time Warp,” and “Ghostbusters,” that will make audiences dance, laugh, sing and scream. “Frank & The Steins” is produced by Face Productions and choreographed by Melden Steele. “Frank & The Steins” will perform on the 1st Street Stage Oct. 3-31 at 8:10, 9:10 and 10:10 p.m. (dark on Oct. 9, 16 and 23).
Zombie Rising will perform three themed sets that highlight a vast repertoire. The Gothic Set includes a set list on the heavy side of rock and will include songs from Rob Zombie’s “Dragula,” Alice in Chains “Man in the Box,” and Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid.” The Pop Horror set is hosted by the “Addams Family” and will feature some of the lighter side of the macabre with hits like Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” and Oingo Boingo’s “Dead Man’s Party.” The third set, titled Rock From the Dead, will have the band costumed like some of our dearly departed rock stars and will regale the crowd with renditions that include Warren Zevon’s “Werewolves of London,” Guns & Roses “Welcome to the Jungle” and Blue Oyster Cult’s “Don’t Fear the Reaper.” Zombie Rising will perform on the Main Street Stage Oct. 5-31 on Sundays – Wednesdays from 9 p.m. – 1 a.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 6 – 10 p.m.
“Drac & The Vamps” take over the 3rd Street Stage with a dominating, bloodcurdling, spine-chilling live performance that leaves audiences screaming for more. Performing all your favorite Halloween songs, “Drac & The Vamps” guarantees you’ll have a spooktacular good time. “Drac & The Vamps” is produced by Face Productions. “Drac & The Vamps” will perform on the 3rd Street Stage Oct. 2-31 at 11:10 p.m., 12:10 and 1:10 a.m. (dark Oct. 12, 13, 19 & 20).
Oktoberfest:
Beer and drink specials will be available throughout OktoberFrightFest, including beer specials featuring Miller Lite and Foster’s Lager. This year Captain Morgan Black Spiced Rum will be the featured liquor on Fremont Street Experience during OktoberFrightFest.
Third Annual Fall Beer Festival (Golden Nugget):
Fremont Street Experience member property Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino will host its Third Annual Fall Beer Festival during a two-day event on Oct. 19 & 20. This two-day festival brings together consumers, craft beer vendors, live music, great food and hundreds of beers in two very different events. The first event kicks off Friday, Oct. 19 from 7-10 p.m. in The Grand Events Center. Guests will sample over 125 craft beer selections from 30 of America’s hottest award-winning breweries and enjoy chef-inspired sliders, wings and sausages while listening to live music. Tickets to this event can be purchased individually for $50 plus taxes at the Golden Nugget Box Office. On Saturday, Oct. 20 from 3-9 p.m., The Tank Pool, Golden Nugget’s award-winning pool and shark aquarium will host an Oktoberfest Pool Party. Admission is free and beer enthusiasts can enjoy 200 different international and domestic beers available for purchase as well as Brats, Pretzels and more great food while listening to an authentic German Oktoberfest band.
Viva Vision Schedule:
Fremont Street Experience’s Viva Vision will feature four themed sing-along/dance-along shows to “Time Warp” and “Monster Mash” each evening in October. These mini Halloween-themed shows are 3-4 minutes long and will play after regularly scheduled shows at the top of the hour.
