Sunrise Children’s Foundation Hosting 22nd Annual Achievement Celebration, 7.21 with Illusionist, David Goldrake
Founded in 1993, SCF currently provides multiple programs throughout Clark County, employs approximately 195 individuals and touches the lives of over 150,000 children and families annually. The organization’s mission is helping children to fulfill their potential of safe, healthy and educated lives. The foundation is recognizing more than 100 young students with their successes in its school readiness program at its 22nd annual Achievement Celebration on Friday, July 21 at the City Impact Trinity Life Church Campus.
Sunrise Children’s Foundation delivers a full scope of services from birth to five and provides a comprehensive continuum of care to ensure that children in Nevada have a chance at success. SCF administers four key programs that support a myriad of critical areas focusing on optimal child development including prenatal care and breast-feeding education, infant and toddler health and development, wellness, nutrition and health education, parent education, reading and literacy skills and positive family relationships. All services are provided free of charge.
The celebration includes more than 100 students involved with the Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY), a research-based parent involvement, school readiness program proven to help parents prepare their 3, 4, and 5-year-old children for success in school. The HIPPY curriculum, supplemented with children’s books and supplies, is designed to strengthen children’s cognitive and early literacy skills as well as their social/emotional and physical development.
During weekly home visits, parents receive child development guidance and hands-on practice in using the carefully developed HIPPY curriculum. Throughout 30 consecutive weeks of each preschool year, the curriculum progresses and builds upon child development principles and parenting skills. Over the course of three years, children and families in the Sunrise Children’s Foundation HIPPY (SCF-HIPPY) program participate in 90 weeks of early childhood development and family services. These families also have monthly family engagements in unison with the MIECHV families and children.
Special guest to entertain the children and families is award-winning grand illusionist known as ‘The International Man of Mystery,’ who defys the laws of time and physics in front of spectators’ very eyes with David Goldrake ‘Imaginarium’ inside Tropicana Theater. Representing a new generation of illusionists, David Goldrake allows guests to lose all sense of reality, creating a surreal scene caught somewhere between reality and a dreamlike world full of dreams and fantasies.
