Spring Cleaning “Celebrity” Surprise for Goodwill Donors on Friday, April 17

Fort Apache & Flamingo Drive-Thru Donation Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Expect donors to do a double-take. (Seriously).

Donors who drop off items at the Fort Apache & Flamingo Goodwill Store & Donation Drive-Thru, located at 2550 S. Fort Apache Road (at Flamingo), will be in for a “celebrity” surprise on Friday, April 17 between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

That’s because the donation ambassador receiving their spring cleaning donations may look a lot like… Steven Tyler.

The hit tribute show “Legends in Concert” at Flamingo Las Vegas, which recently won Best Tribute Show in the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s Best of Las Vegas poll, will help collect donations at one of the busiest Goodwill Donation Drive-thrus in the valley, in an effort to remind people to take some time this spring to clean out their closets, cabinets and bookshelves.

“We think donors will do a double-take,” said Chris Matlock, vice president of retail and operations at Goodwill of Southern Nevada. “And then they’ll pull out their cell phones for a photo! Having a ‘celebrity’ donation ambassador is a great way to remind people to declutter and donate items they are no longer using. A big thank you to Legends in Concert for this partnership.”

This spring cleaning drive kicks off Goodwill providing donors with vouchers offering a reduced price on Legends tickets. Legends is currently offering all Las Vegas locals $9.95 show tickets – the same price tickets were in 1983 when “Legends in Concert” debuted. As a thank you to Goodwill’s donation ambassadors for all their hard work, “Legends in Concert” donated concert tickets to all of them.

Donations to Goodwill are critical as the sale of donated items in Goodwill stores funds the nonprofit’s life changing job placement and training programs. Last year, Goodwill of Southern Nevada helped more than 2,300 people find employment at a variety of businesses. For more on Goodwill of Southern Nevada www.Goodwill.Vegas.
